Une journée à l’Opéra turns the Opéra de Nice into its own leading character. Across a 45-minute arc from dawn to night, the nine muses painted on the ceiling come to life and guide the audience through a wordless, in-the-round reverie — billed as the first 360° immersive show created for an opera house in France.
Conceived and directed by video artist Etienne Guiol, the piece maps the entire historic hall — dome, frescoes, balconies, iron curtain — fusing monumental projection with orchestral music and spatialised sound. The whole volume becomes the screen.
Onlyview was the technical partner behind the projection: driving frame-accurate playback across every curved and ornate surface of a protected heritage interior, and keeping it in lockstep with the spatial soundtrack. The show drew a 4.1/5 audience rating across more than 1,700 reviews and extended its summer run — the kind of reliable, repeatable result a media server has to make routine.
Incontournable… un spectacle total, soulignant combien l'opéra — comme genre et comme bâtiment — reste une formidable machine à rêver. Alexandre Pham, ClassiqueNews
