Lima 2019 — Pan American Games

For the opening of the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, creative producer Balich Wonder Studio built the show around a single hero object: a faceted, 20-metre-plus sculptural rendition of Pariacaca, the sacred mountain of Lima. It was set, character and projection surface all at once.

Across three hours, that mountain carried an entire nation’s story — from pre-Inca civilisations to the present day, blending 2D, 3D and hand-drawn content over a complex three-dimensional surface, and giving each of 41 delegations its own mapped scenery.

Onlyview drove the large-format content onto that canvas under the most demanding conditions there are: live, one-take, in front of a sold-out stadium and an estimated 550 million broadcast viewers. Ceremony-scale projection that has to be flawless the first time — and was.
