Network Architecture
The machines
- Producer is the machine the operator works on. It holds the show file (.olv) and the master copy of all the media, and it drives the Media Servers. Producer does not render anything on stage.
- Media Servers are the machines connected to the projectors, LED processors, etc. They receive the show and the media from Producer, and render it.
- Watchdog runs permanently on every Media Server, and allows Producer to start, stop, reboot and upgrade a Media Server remotely.

Producer always initiates the connections: it connects to each Media Server, not the other way round.
The other layouts
On top of this main setup, Onlyview offers various ways to prepare and play your show:
- Multi-user : extra Producers connect to the main one and work on the same show at the same time — see Multi-Producer. A tablet or laptop can also join for deformation work only, with WarpNet.
- Backup systems : A complete second system (= a separate Producer, with its own Media Servers) on its own network mirrors the Main system. This removes any Single Point of Failure. See Main and Backup Producer.
- Standalone servers For permanent installations, one Media Server can take the Producer's place at showtime. See Standalone Media Servers.
- External controls The show can be controlled by a WebPanel, a StreamDeck, custom scripts... See Remote Control.
Addressing
Media Servers are accessed via their IP address. Each server should have a fixed IP.
Producer discovers the Media Servers that are already on the network : go in the
Edit Media Server dialog, and Onlyview servers that are present in the network should appear in the left pane. They can be added to the show with the + button.
Ports
All the communication is TCP unless stated otherwise. If a firewall sits between the machines, these are the ports to open.
| Port | Listening machine | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| 3054 | Media Server | Show commands from Producer |
| 3052 / 3053 | Media Server | Show and media upload |
| 3055 | Producer | Remote control, Multi-Producers, and the Backup Producer |
| 3062 / 3063 | Producer | Show and media download (Get Local Copy) |
| 3069 | Producer | Clock synchronisation |
| 3060 | Media Server | Watchdog administration |
| 3061 | Producer | Watchdog replies |
| 3042 / 3043 | Media Server | Software upgrade upload to Watchdog |
| 8080 | Producer | Web Panel and WarpNet pages (HTTP) |
| 62332 | Producer | WarpNet |
Various devices (projectors, consoles, trackers…) might use extra ports. See Devices.
