WarpNet — Full Reference

The page

WarpNet is served by Producer at http://<producer-ip>:8080/warpnet.html, and is reachable from any browser on the show network. Open it from Producer with Windows → Open WarpNet..., which also shows a QR code for tablets and phones.

The page has four tabs — Deformation, QuickKeys, Patterns, Settings — and a connection indicator in the corner. The connection re-establishes itself automatically after a network interruption or a Producer restart.

Item list

Control Effect
Search box Filters the list by name
outputs Shows or hides the video outputs and their screen parts
media Shows or hides the media cues shared from Producer
Click an entry Opens it in the editing area
Dot on the right Blinds the item — it goes black on stage
P / M Previous / next item in the list
Space Blinds or unblinds the selected item

Outputs are listed on their own, as Server name - Output name. Audio outputs are not listed. Media cues appear only after Send to WarpNet in Producer.

Deformation toolbar

Button Effect
XY Move the deformation points on stage. This is the normal mode.
UV Move the texture coordinates: the content slides inside the unchanged geometry.
Soft edges Adjust the output's soft edges in the same view.
Deformation... Open the deformation settings (below).

Deformation settings

Field Values
Mode None, Keystone, Curve, Bezier
Rows / Columns Grid resolution. Curve and Bezier only; minimum 3 for Curve, 4 for Bezier.
Reset grid Puts every point back to its default position

Changing the mode, or ticking Reset grid, discards the current point positions. WarpNet has no undo.

Mouse and touch

Action Effect
Click a point Selects it
Ctrl + click a point Adds it to, or removes it from, the selection
Drag a point Moves the whole selection
Drag on the background Rubber-band selection
Ctrl + drag on the background Adds the enclosed points to the selection
Middle-drag, or Alt + drag Pans the view
Mouse wheel Zooms

The editing area is touch-enabled: dragging moves points and panning works with the usual gestures, so a tablet on stage needs no mouse.

Keyboard

Key Effect
Arrow keys Move the selected points by one unit
Ctrl + arrows Move by 10 units
Shift + arrows Move by 0.2 unit — the fine adjustment
Alt + arrows Move the selection to the neighbouring point, without moving anything
Ctrl-A Selects every point
Escape Deselects everything
F Fits the item in the view
P / M Previous / next item
Space Blinds or unblinds the current item

Patterns tab

Sends a test pattern to the Media Servers. It is the same setting as the pattern list in the MEDIA SERVERS tab of Producer, so changing it here changes it for everybody — see Patterns for what each pattern is for.

Settings tab

Field Values
Point Shape None, Point, Cross, Circle, Square
Point Color Any colour

These control the markers that the Media Servers draw on stage at the positions of the points selected in WarpNet. They apply to this browser only: with several operators connected at once, give each one a distinct colour so that everybody can find their own points on the real screen.

Setting the shape to None turns the on-stage markers off.
